Cai Meli

For a romantic and restful hide-away Cai Meli is the place for you. Recently converted from an old barn and tobacco tower, the detached two bedroom house still retains a rustic charm but with all modern amenities. This is a wonderful place to just unwind, enjoy the unobstructed views or take a dip in the pool. Secluded, yet only minutes away from restaurants, shops and within 1 hour’s driving time to cities such as Perugia, Assisi, Spoleto, Arezzo, Gubbio, Castiglione del Lago and Cortona. Overlooking a beautiful valley, the property is totally private. Cai Meli shares a 40 acre estate of fruit and olive trees with just the owner’s house. There is also an organic garden providing fresh vegetables and spices during your stay.

To help you relax and unwind or perhaps to help with a problem, Reiki and massage is available from an internationally qualified Holistic Massage Therapist. There is also the chance to experience acupuncture. These are provided in the second downstairs bedroom.

Accommodation and features

Sitting room with sofa, satellite flat screen LCD TV and DVD. Large dining/kitchen room. Kitchen area with gas oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, toaster and café/espresso machine. On arrival you will find a complimentary bottle of organic olive oil pressed from our own olives. Dining area with a large traditional dining table for 6 and a wood burning stove.

Bedroom 1 upstairs with 2 double beds with orthopedic mattresses. The beds can be separate or pushed together.

Bedroom 2 downstairs with 2 single beds with orthopedic mattresses. A baby cot is also available on request.

Bathroom downstairs with shower, basin, bidet, toilet, hair dryer and magnifying mirror. Bathrobes are provided. There is also a washer and steam iron with ironing board.

Linen, towels and bathrobes are changed weekly. Pool towels are also provided. The property is cleaned prior to arrival and on departure. Extra cleaning is available mid-term if pre-booked at extra charge. Baby-sitting is available at an extra charge.

The property can take up to 4 people but is ideal for a couple.

Outside

Outside is a large private terrace with superb views across the olive grove and the valley beyond. There is a large marble dining table for eight with comfortable chairs, several lounge chairs and a BBQ. Situated 30 metres from the house will be a large pool (18m x 5m) with loungers semi-immersed among an olive grove; the pool will be completed by the end of May.

Around Cai Meli there are some great walks and hikes with the chance to see local wildlife, deer and wild pig, and a superb view from the top of Monte Acuto nearby. If you are a road or mountain biker there are terrific valleys and mountains to traverse up to 926 meters. On the other side of the mountain is Lago Trasimeno for sailing or taking a ferry to the island of Maggiore. There are festivals throughout the year; be it music (Umbria Jazz or Spoleto’s music festival), dance, local folk fiestas and even Perugia’s chocolate festival. Lastly, if you are tired at the end of the day, there is an excellent pizzeria/bar with a wood oven and outdoor terrace just a 5 minute walk from the property.

The only other property on the estate is the owner’s house. This is rarely occupied outside of the summer school holidays and we would advise you when booking if the owner will be in residence for that period.

Prices and booking

January 1st - May 18th 2007	800 euros per week
May 19th - June 29th 2007	1250 euros per week
June 30th - August 31st 2007	1550 euros per wekk
September 1st - 28th 2007	1250 euros per week
Septemerb 29th 2007 - March 31st 2008	800 euros per week

Prices are in euros per week for the property whether 1 or up to 4 people are staying. The price includes electricity, gas for hot water, linen, bath/hand towels and pool towels. Heating during colder months is at additional cost for the wood stove and gas central heating.

Reiki, massage and acupuncture sessions are charged at €40 per 1 hour session

Changeover day is usually Saturday but we may be able to be flexible - please enquire. Check in after 5 pm and check out by 10 am please.

Dogs are allowed but there will be an additional charge.

Please contact us to check availability and to make a booking. Your booking is confirmed on receipt of a deposit of 25%. The balance is due 2 months before your arrival plus a returnable security deposit of 300 euros to cover extra coats (heating etc.) if applicable and also against any damages. In the case of cancellation there will be charges depending on the timing and these will be fully explained in your booking form. The deposit and balance payments are made directly to the owner of the property. There are no agency or extra charges - the prices are the same as booking direct with the owner.
